Gts 450 sli
Hello, I want to ask you couple of questions. I have GTS 450 2GB DDR3 and I want to put GTS 450 GDDR5 1GB, will it work as a SLI ? The second question is if I put 2 GTS 450 (mine the 2GB edition and GDDR5 1GB edition) without that SLI will the gaming performance improve or it will remain the same ? The third question is Can I use different GPU as a SLI example GTS 450 and GTX 460? The Fourth question is can I use 550W PSU for those 2 GTS 450 ? Thanks in advance

1. If it works it will be limited to 1 GB or card memory, SLI does not add what is on each card together.
2. Only benefit from running them non-SLI is to use the second card for Physx. Unless you have a bunch of games that actually use hardware accelerated Physx, a whole 23 at this time (most of which are who-cares games anyway),
PhysXInfo.com - Projects using PhysX SDK
not worth the extra expense.
3. No the cards have to be the same model. They can be different makes.
4. If it is a good quality 550W probably, but I would be looking at something a little beefier just because.

So the SLI doesnt improve the gaming much, right ?

I forgot this in my previous post, will the gaming performance improve if I put this 2GB DDR3 and the 1GB GDDR5 ?

If SLI will even enable with the cards having different types and speeds of memory on them, yes it will. See the link I posted above. It will just treat it as 2 cards with 1 GB on each, meaning the extra 1 GB on one card will not be used.
