Can't get higher resolution than 1024x768

I just bought a laptop from a friend and I'm stupid so I don't know shit, but I know that the resolution should definitely get bigger than 1024x768. What is wrong, do I need new drivers or something?

Windows 7 Ultimate 32bit.

Welcome to the forum,

Go to Device Manager and look under Display adapter, see if you can right click, update driver.

If that doesn't help, we could use some specs on your computer Forum Rules and info- Please Read!

to help you find one.

You need an updated driver for you graphics card.
There should be a label on your notebook containing a list of hardware in your computer.
With the name of your graphics card, use google search to find some updated drivers.

Drivers for Geforce 6100 / Windows 7 32bits. Just hit download and install.
