Something that fix the issue for me

If I can ask... where exactly does this install hangs? Mine stops at "Enumerating source media for installable packages" it "Analyze" step after selecting custom install.

    Hi.
I had exactly the same issue, trying everything until I found the "ATISetup.exe" file under the bin and bin64 folders of the driver installation folder. C:\ati\beta_w7-64_8-56-1-081203a-72489\Bin64
ATISetup.exe is the command line version of the setup. So open the command line console and:
To install the driver type for example:
    atisetup.exe -install -output screen
    To uninstall:
    atisetup.exe -Uninstall
    To obtain the help type:
    ATISetup -?

By the way, this does not fix the problem that pushed me to install this last version of the driver. When connected to the DVI interface of my ATI Radeon 3600, Windows 7 stop displaying anything but the statup-up logo. Windows 7 starts (I can hear the start-up jingle) but stay displaying the logo. In safe mode it stops updating the display after loading classpnp.sys. but the ntblog show than other drivers are loaded after this. In the boot log I can see "Loaded driver \SystemRoot\System32\drivers\vga.sys" but also "Did not load driver ATI Radeon HD 3600 Series (Engineering Sample – WDDM v1.1)". When using the onboard VGA port (NVIDIA GeForce 6100) it is running and I can see my ATI adpater in the Device manager.
    Any idea?

    Windows 7 Home - 64 Bit

I have re-installed everything both using the Manufacturer's restore disks and also taking things into my own hands. I finally took My 64-bit Windows Vista install DVD; Formatted the C: drive in the process just before the installation software installed Windows. After that I couldn't change the partitions using the Adminstrative Tools - Computer Management - Disk Management (Vista) to make partitions, I then used a seperate Disk Management software to make C:\ 100G; D:\ 100G; & E:\ 32.9G ( 250G HD - the missing amount is used by the Harddrive to Manage itself). I then I installed Windows 7 to the second partition, then all drivers as required, including a AMD/ATI Raid Controller driver. Once everything was installed clean I downloaded a fresh copy of the 64-Bit ATI beta drivers. After not installing many times before, the drivers installed this time for the ATI Radeon HD 3200 Graphics. I noticed that some of the security inquires that take place during an installation were different. I finally have a full clean install for Windows 7. One thing that is interesting is for the WEI score in Vista the Hard Disk score is 3.9 and in Windows 7 it is 1.9 Go Figure?? Patrick C

    8.12 Beta or 9.1 Vista?

So, I finally got W7 64 bit installed. My Marvell LAN adapter is still not working, however, I should have that taking care of soon.

My question now is the following: Which one of the two 64 bit version of catalyst would you recommend, 9.1 Vista or 8.12 W7 beta?

As far as reading this forum, it looks like W7 beta create more trouble during install than 9.1 Vista 64.

    Thanks!

I had driver problems with my Marvell Yukon PCI-E integrated mobo NIC. I solved it by installing the latest Vista 64bit Driver from Marvell: Consumer Driver Search. As for your Video Driver question I have better stability and performance using the 9.1 Vista 64 bit Driver and CCC. I have tried the 8.12 Vista 64 Build, The W7 beta pre-release and the 9.1 Vista 64 bit with the CCC. I play everything... Crysis, Far Cry2, Fallout 3, Mirrors Edge, WOW WOTLK and pretty much anything else I can throw at my machine. You may need to update your DirectX to play some games. Good luck and GG:)

    - Snowcrash: Thanks for the advice. 9.1 installed great. Need to load Fallout3 and see how my little hybrid crossfire platform behaves now.
BTW: Couldn't get Marvell drivers to install by themselves, I had to download the latest drivers and install them through the device manager. However, everything works now.. :)

    - Julian: Couldn't believe your rig specs! Dual 3870 in a laptop. I had to go and check the website to believe it.

Unfortunitly the W7 Beta driver does not offer support for the 790FX (The Northbridge chipset you wil find in all high end AMD Spider platforms) which is not only a higher performance NB core logic IC then your laptop has but is also more recent...Which makes you wonder what AMD was thinking but oh well... So for the rest of us who have newer equiptment the W7 beta driver is a joke. If you have the top end of ATI/AMD the 9.1 Driver is not only a better choice it's your only choice if you want to take advantage of your harware especially in DX10+.

    Best of Luck
