That sounds like the driver for the monitor is not allowing low resolutions, so the GC outputs a low res image on a high res screen. Try finding the proper drivers for your monitor.

Has anybody noticed that ATI's driver download website now actually SUPPORTS LAPTOP VIDEO CARDS for Windows 7??

9.4 drivers are now fully working with my Mobility Radeon HD 3650!

    Really? It actually should...

Try on this site Graphics Drivers & Software

Click on Windows 7 (32 or 64 bit) and then on the next column choose Mobility Radeon. You should click then on 3000 series and that should work. Just in case, extract the files in another folder specific for them.

i have tried so much i already gave up...
on a lighter note i just noticed that like for the hd3000 are of the beta drivers...
(which i alredy have and used...)
the retail 9.4 dont have have any of my hardware strings....:)
i thought i might give it a shot but still nothing...
apart from that these are the least polished drivers i have ever seen...
im now looking into the 9.5 beta and see if at least those drivers have any support...
but it looks very unhopeful for me...

A major breakthru, running my ati 4850 x2 I now have three monitors, running 7100 and the 9.5 beta driver. I just can't figure out why the fourth screen isn't working .Hey three is alot better than one, just a little push and I may end up with 4.

this is an update, 4 0f 4 just a little screwing around and re-installing the drivers and checking all the connections and bingo everything works.

Have any of you having problems with relatively current ATI GPUs and current (meaning 9.3, 9.4 and 9.5.beta) x64 drivers tried downloading the driver only (without Catalyst) and "unpacking" it rather than just installing it? (I used 7-zip.)

After unpacking, go into the .\$_OUTDIR\Bin64 folder and install from there.

    Worked for me.

I haven't tried it with the x86 32-bit drivers, but if you are having problems with those, the technique might help. YMMV.

Edited to add: Also, I just tried changing resolutions and dot pitch -- both worked flawlessly for me on both my new system (see specs) using 7100.x64 and an old system (3.2GHz P4C, GA-8KNXP rev 2 w/ i875P, 2GB DDR RAM, Sapphire HD2600XT AGP, NEC MultiSync 20WMGX2) using 7100.x86.
