i just hope the new drivers get back to low idle clocks instead of catering for people with dual moniters first because some had issues with second moniter when gpu dropped into low idle 2d clocks when the majority of ati users use single moniter. they should have a driver for dual moniters and single or maybe an option in ccc
if they dont fix this im sticking with 10.4 or might end up flashing bios .They might finally fix this annoying issue

    10.5
    &
    10.6
    idle clocks

    clock speed 400
    mem clock 1445

sort it out ati or get rid of the monkeys that make ccc and hire someone from nvidia

    I don't

Besides, since eyefinity is a selling point - multi monitor support will take precedence over single monitors.

Maybe it's just 5970 specific, but 10.4a > 10.5 > 10.6 have been a constant 400/1000 for 2D. Other 5xxx cards have had high mem clocks all over the place.

Perhaps try editing the .xml profile values.

sort it out ati or get rid of the monkeys that make ccc and hire someone from nvidia
If it hasn't happened in the last few years people have been quipping that - it's unlikely it's going to happen

i dont think editing the xml works,Ive tried
The Property values are the same as 10.4 drivers.
So i dont know where these idle values are coming from because these numbers dont appear in the xml
    i might be missing something
but ive read quite abit on ati forums and knowones mentioned a fix yet apart from bios flash

btw 10c increase with these drivers aswell at idle /-_-/ nice

    Hi,

Maybe this is mentioned before but FYI I only get the high idle clocks in 2D (HD5870)
if I activate ATI overdrive (400/1300)
When I deactivate overdrive they go back to normal (157/300)

.net in win 7 for catalyst ccc

I am building a win 7 box offline ( no lan) when putting in the catalyst ccc at ATI release notes for the software they say you must have .net SP1 installed or you will have problems. also at the HIS site they say .net 1.1 sp1 needs to be installed. Well you can not put 1.1 in on a 64 bit ver. and their is no such thing as .net sp1 that I can find, what the heck is going on.

    lysle, welcome to the forums.

One of these days they may get around to changing that. On Windows 7 .net 1.1 isn't needed as 7 comes with .net 3.5, and the CCC works just fine with it.

As far as the drivers themselves go, you can get them from HIS or directly from ATI as they will be one and the same. The only thing that may be different with the ones from HIS is that they will mod the INF so that it shows their name somewhere during and after the install, other than that the driver will be identical as the one from ATI.

Thanks but why do both sites say .net sp1 is needed and it does seem many users have problems with it.
    Thanks for the help

No idea why it hasn't been updated other than for XP (and Vista for that matter) it still has to be installed as XP doesn't come with any form of .net. The one thing that they do need to change is that it should be .net 2.0, as ATI updated CCC a while ago.
