Brink -
There has been some traffic, in this forum, about the ATI drivers referenced in this post, that don't completely install. I have a HP Laptop dv5-1125nr with Radeon HD 3200 graphics. (1) I tried installing the ATI beta drivers referenced in the post. (2) The install hangs. (3) Used windows Task Manager to stop the install. (4) Went to the Device Manager. (5) Found Display icon. (6) Found and highlighted the installed Microsoft driver. (7) Right-click, selected update the driver, (8) When the option to give a driver for install came up, (9) Browsed to and found the driver left by the failed ATI beta install, (10) Highlighted it, (11) Navigated to the list of drivers that windows allows for install, (12) Selected " ATI Radeon HD 3200 Graphics (Pre-release - WDDM 1.1) " driver and installed it. Now when I right-click the desktop and select the Catalyst Manager - I can make all the adjustments and see the Video Memory allocation 2D, 3D, etc. I sent feedback to ATI - that by the way is available for all users of the Catalyst Manager on the 1st page of the Manager. I have wanted to share what I found to help others that have had trouble installing these drivers. Thanks for your answer. So where on your hard drive did you find the driver exactly when updating via device manager? I had no luck when selecting the ATI directory with "Search subfolders" checked. I also tried various subfolders with no effect. It always says, my actual driver is up to date :-(

Greetz,
GHad GHad - In the post I made above to Brink - in steps (11) & (12) - browse to Drive:\ATI\beta_w7-64_8-56-1-081203a-74289\Packages\Drivers\LH6A_INF\CH_73489. When You browse to that file when Windows allows you to present a file - even though there are multiple files in that directory - when you navigate to that directory - it will show the driver I specified in the post to Brink. Well I could not resolve this ATI driver issue...
I was using the on-board HD 3200 video in Vista64 when I upgraded to Windows 7 and that worked...
But yesterday I threw in an HD 3650 card and could not get the drivers to load...
Not even the beta 7 driver listed above...even tried Patrick's instructions to no avail...
My only option was to re-install Vista64 and then install the drivers for the card...
Once I finish getting everything loaded and setup tonight, I will upgrade to Windows 7 again and see what happens...
It better work...I like 7 and don't want to go back to Vista... | My System Specs | | OS Windows 7 RC 64bit CPU AMD Phenom 9850 Black Edition 2.5GHz (OCed to 3.1GHz) Motherboard ASRock A780GXE Memory 8GB DDR2 1066 Dual Channel Graphics Card ATI Radeon HD 3650 Sound Card Realtek ALC888 (on board) Monitor(s) Displays Acer 22" wide and Acer 17" Screen Resolution 1680x1050 and 1280x1024 Keyboard Logitech Mouse Logitech PSU Ultra LSP650 650w Case ? something I had Cooling AeroFlow FX92 Hard Drives Intel 80G SSD G2, WD1001FALS, WD1001FALS, WD5000AAKS, Cavarlry 500GB external Internet Speed ATT DSL top level |
