thanks a bunch. is there a way to tell if either the RAM or power supply is the cause of the problem? i believe lenovo's warranty is invalid for Pacific Island Residences. thankks again and God Bless,

I think you'll need a tech to test your power supply in a laptop. But you can test your memory with this: RAM - Test with Memtest86+
