Windows 7: Monitor doesn't get signal from computer

Monitor doesn't get signal from computer

Sometimes when I turn on my computer although computer starts but the monitor doesn't show anything. I unplug the power cable from back of computer and then replug it and after that monitor starts responding (it starts showing desktop), how can this problem be fixed. thanks

You haven't by chance upgraded the graphics card recently have you?

Next time you have this problem don't unplug the power cable just wiggle it back and forth where it plugs in. This is to check if its a poor connection. and or cable.

Try plugging the monitor directly to a wall plug. If that works, move it to the same power strip as your puter. If that works, you may need to investigate a problem in your power supply.

Hi

Just checking but when you say removing the power cable, you are talking about the monitor power cable rather than the PC cable?

Do you have another display to test it on?
It does sound like capacitors are blown in the monitor.
At least that's the only thing I've seen before that caused that behavior where it wasn't the graphics directly.

Yep it sure sounds like a bad monitor plug or broken wire inside the power cable. Could be a bad receptacle too(Wall plug).

Sorry mistake, I unplug the computer power cable and then plug it back and monitor start responding.
