No vidio signal with HDMI cable on Computer Reboot

I have an Acer H233H monitor that is capable of using either a DVI or HDMI cable, new computer has both outputs.. I am using the HDMI cable and when I reboot my computer i lose my video signal to my monitor. If I turn my monitor off and on the signal returns. My monitor is set to HDMI input, so I don't know if this is a Win 7 thing or just a configuration that I am missing.
I used the DVI cable and everything worked fine, monitor came on on reboot as it should. I can't use the DVI cable I have because it is too short, which is why I have switched to a HDMI cable.
I have no problem buying a longer DVI cable if this is a HDMI quirk that cannot be fixed.
    Any ideas or suggestions?
    Thanks.

I am afraid I can't help you with a solution to your issue, but I can certainly say that it's not the norm for it to do that.

I have used both HDMI and DVI on my current monitor and they both work completely normally.

    Cheers

    Paul.

Mine does the same, however it cycles from HDMI to analog till it has a signal. Just let it do it's thing and you should be fine.

It sounds as though things are defaulting to DVI input so I'm just wondering if you need a BIOS update or check the BIOS settings.

I would recommend you to first try another cable and if the behavior is same then a different driver because the issue might be with the driver then.

I waited and waited and waited and nothing happened. My monitor power light went from orange to white several times each time it went to white a blue no signal window popped up and a few seconds the power light went back to orange. I contacted Acer and they couldn't figure out the problem either. As for the Bios I have a gigabyte
    Manufacturer Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd.
    Model H67MA-USB3-B3
    Chipset Vendor Intel
    Chipset Model Sandy Bridge
    Chipset Revision 09
    Southbridge Vendor Intel
    Southbridge Model ID1C4A
    Southbridge Revision 05
    BIOS
    Brand Award Software International, Inc.
    Version F3 ZT
    Date 05/19/2011

I did check around in the bios and didn't see anything obvious.
any suggestion as to what I should be looking for in the bios?

Maybe I just need to bit the bullet and get a longer DVI cable

I got a longer DVI cable and the problem is solved, don't know why a HDMI cable had this problem.
    Thanks for all the suggestions

    Ugh!

I am having the same problem. Want to use HDMI because I understand that the monitor's internal speakers can be used with HDMI only, which, so far, doesn't work either. However, whenever I boot, I need to power cycle my monitor which is a non-starter. Has anyone had and solved this problem?

I haven't found a HDMI cable solution yet. I tried all the suggestion from everyone and nothing worked. I would still have to turn my monitor off then on upon each reboot. I finally resorted to a longer DVI cable and everything works as it should. I don't have built in speakers so that wasn't much of an issue for me. Good luck and I'll keep an eye on this post in case someone comes up with a solution that works.

Hi. I have two Acer H233H monitors - and they have the same issue. Monitor have to be turned off/on to switch to HDMI signal. This is even more annoying on a laptop that goes into powersave where you have to turn the monitor on/off whenever you you start using your computer again.

Anyone who actually solved this issue (except by not using HDMI) ? - og just have more info....
