Windows 7: Attempting to use TV as second screen

Hey guys!

I have an GeForce GTX 570. It has two DVI ports. I'm attempting to connect my TV to my computer using a component cable (using a component-DVI adapter), however, when I attempt to do this, the TV flashes black/blue.



The TV recognizes a second monitor, as I can see a second screen under "screen resolution". When I was turning off my PC, strangely, I could see the shutdown sequence on the TV (the picture was wavy/flickering though).

Anyone know what my problem is here and know a potential solution? I'm at my wit's end with this shit.

Can you post an example of the type of adapter you're using?

The only thing I can suggest is to change the refresh rate that the PC is outputting to the TV.
Those adapters are pretty much hit or miss.

those only work if the DVI port on the video card is pinned for a Component output, and is usually only ATI cards.

if your TV has an HDMI input, then you can just use a straight DVI to HDMI cable.

Would this do the trick?

I think that is just a switcher, and won't help you.
