2nd Monitor, Ati 6800, No Display

Hi,

After literally hours or trawling through the internet's depths I cannot seem to find someone with the same problem as myself with a solution; plenty similar, none of their solutions work though.

I'll dive right in: I have an HD LCD TV as my main output, was VGA up until recently and it is now HDMI (just bought the cable) everything works fine.

I previously tried dual'ing my monitors up by using 2 VGA outputs and my old monitor as the second display, however, when using you cannot use to VGA outputs, according to the internets.

Moving on, MS control panel>display settings etc, can now detect the second monitor and output etc but the signal is not getting to the monitor, it has the standard "no input signal detected, check..." blah. I checked the wires and outputs sockets and they're all fine and they all work. (ie when I disconnect the HDMI cable the 'second' monitor works.

When I try to change the display to "extend my desktop" in the control panel it gives me an error message saying: "unable to save display settings"

In the AMD ENGINE control centre it will not even detect the second monitor.

I am COMPLETELY at a loss with this. If you've taken the time to read this, thank you and any help at all would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.
