425 Watt power supply is to small. First you will need to upgrade to atleast 600 Watt. I like the corsair PSU.

For a upgrade what is the budget.

    For under $200:

MSI R6870 Hawk Radeon HD 6870

Newegg.com - MSI R6870 Hawk Radeon HD 6870 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.1 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card with Eyefinity

    For over $200:

MSI R6950 Twin Frozr III PE/OC Radeon HD 6950

Newegg.com - Computer Hardware, Video Cards & Video Devices, Desktop Graphics / Video Cards, MSI, AMD

    These two cards are amazing.

The other card I had listed is the same with a new cooler. Also there are a few more shaders and it will work in your computer. Stick with the Frozr III ver. of the card ie the one I listed. Don't worry about the slot that is on your motherboard.

$60 after rebate $50 this will do everything that you will ever need with that computer.

    Hi Beta
First thanks for all of your help here.
I will buy the card you have the {first} link to , it looks like it has all of the
    requirement i need .
And thanks for the link to the power supply i need ,
you are a time saver in helping me with all of this !
I am real good with the software that comes with a computer but
when it comes to the hardware i am really not that good with it
Your guidance with the hardware is really grate .
Now my old dimension 8400 will get all for the parts the came out of my XPS 430 so we got 2 in one!
