Problem with Native Resolution

Hi,

I am trying to get my monitor to operate at its native resolution which is 1920x1200. However this resolution is not available to me under my nvidia control panel. The maximum resolution is 1920x1080, which I would not mind except it cuts off the bottom and left portions of the view.

I have tried using Phoenix EDID Designer and Mon info to determine the problem. However, Phoenix says I have an invalid EDID. and Mon info just says sample for all the values.

I have tried writing a custom .inf with powerstrip, however the custom resolutions still do not show up.

I am using Windows 7 ultimate x64, Nvidia Gefore GTX 285 and a Gateway FHD2401.

I would appreciate any help anyone can give.

Thanks!

When you look at the device manager (devmgmt.msc), what monitor does it say you are using, and what driver (and version) of that monitor driver? The video card reports to Windows only what it thinks are available - that list is ultimately made up of what the monitor says it's resolution is, and what resolutions of those the video card driver supports. If 1900x1200 isn't available, and utilities are complaining about the EDID, it's possible you need to get a specific monitor driver to drive that monitor at it's native resolution (that video card easily supports that res, so if you're using any nvidia driver, that shouldn't be it).

Device Manager lists it as a Gateway FHD2401.

However, this is because I am using a customer driver made with PowerStrip. I checked Gateway's site and their is no driver listed in the support section for my monitor. Normally it uses the Generic Nonplug and play driver.

Hrm.... that does not make sense. I guess the question is, does it make a difference if you use VGA, DVI, or HDMI from the video card?

There does not seem to be any difference as far as the resolutions go. The only difference is the DVI picture is better than VGA. I have not tried the HDMI.

Hi. I'm new here and this is my first post. I looked around a little and found one other thread with a similar question, but the question wasn't really answered. I can't find anything on the net that doesn't confuse me so bad it makes my head hurt, so I thought I'd try asking here. Thanks in...

Native resolution
I just recently bought a brand new computer which forced me to switch from Vista to 7. It wasn't a bad change, just a bit overwhelmed by how things are set up now. The most annoying change is 7 will only give me two options when it comes to screen resolution. 1024x768 and 800x600. Both of...

Native Resolution?

I can't get my native resolution
This problem has been going on the quite so time now. This is my 2nd monitor within the year (or so) that this has been going on and it's happened to both monitors.
