The 32 MB of video memory was most likely a LIE. A lot of Integrated Graphics Cards do this. They use RAM and don't have their own dedicated VRAM. I have such on card that lied about its memory capabilities. For my laptop it has an ATI Radeon x1400, it said it had 256 MB of HyperMemory*
. In reality it only had 128 MB the rest was system RAM. In Windows XP the drivers
were capable of fooling the computer and consumer.
* ATI/Dell never defined what HyperMemory was about when purchasing the computer.
