This might be a silly question, but is it plugged in to the right port? Using the dedicated graphics card and not the on-board one?

There's only one DVI socket on my computer, so I cant have put it in the wrong one.

Also, double check there's only one monitor enabled - if you have two enabled on 'duplicate' mode, the maximum resolution will be restricted to whatever the smallest maximum resolution is.
How do I do that? I had a multiscreen program installed, but I uninstalled it now. Still shows the same resolutions.

One weird thing though, for some reason I uninstalled the screen and graphics driver and reinstalled them. And when trying to make a custom resolution in the Nvidia control panel, I accidentally put 1650*1050 with 120hz and 32bit color. It worked, although it look weird. I dont get why that resolution would work, but not my native one in 1680*1050?

You should be able to right-click on the desktop, then go to Screen Resolution. You can choose monitors and make sure only one is enabled and set as your main monitor. Post a screenshot of that window if you think anything is out of the ordinary...or better still, post one anyway so we can check

I see it says "Display device on DVI" - this sounds very generic. Is there a driver for that monitor on a CD or something with it?

I found this on another page.

Solution was : Find an old VGA cable in closet, plug the monitor with it and a vga>dvi adaptor, select good resolution, then replug back with a dvi cable

It was Vista SP1 based but might be worth a try if you have a vga cable and vga to dvi adaptor.
