HIS hd 6970 and XFX hd 6970 crossfire???

Hi!

I have a XFX Radeon HD 6970 2GB and i just bought a HIS Radeon 6970 2GB and then something hit me. Can i really use these in crossfire, or do i need 2 XFX 6970 cards for it to work? Cause i noticed that the cards look diffrent, both shape and size.

Could someone please help me shed some light on this as i have to return the card if it dosent work =/

Umm I maybe wrong but I don't think you can. I know nvidia/sli you can use any cards. But never seen a setup using different cards in crossfire.

If both cards are 6970's there should be no issues with using cfx. You can sli/cfx any brand of card as long as they are both using the same gpu.

that would be the case if clock speeds and number of shaders and throps ext would be the same, which isn't always the case.

This months issue of pc format did a group test of nvidia 560's all from different manufacturers and all performed massively differently so I think issues may arise

You you can use them in Crossfire. In fact Crossfire has more flexibility in what can be used,
