That is bug and certainly not normal windows behavior. The standard open and minimize is subtle and fast.

Hope you will be able to solve this quirk soon!

win 7 choppy on new laptop

Having the same problem. Opening and closing browser windows, playing simple games and typing are all lagging. This doesn't happen all the time but it is very inconsistent. Sometimes when I am typing the letters don't show up right away and the same for deleting letters. Playing cards online the cards will move very very slow and choppy.

Now, interestingly enough, my old laptop works beautifully with windows 7. It has a 1.66 duo processor, INTEGRATED graphics GMA950, and 2GB ram.

This new computer has the P8700 2.53 Duo processor, discrete graphics nvidia g 105m card with 256 mb ram, and 4gb ram. TWICE the power yet TWICE as slow.

I have tried everything to help solve it from downloading drivers and updates to adjusting windows themes. Disabling aero DOES help but doesn't solve it. The graphics card has crashed once playing a simple card game and windows explorer continually stops working.

I've never had windows 7 stop working on my old machine. And windows explorer has NEVER stopped working on my old machine. I also haven't changed any settings on my old machine and everything is working fine. Transparency on, aero on, everything that win 7 comes with is on. Why should we have to disable all of this on a machine that has the graphics power to handle win 7???????

Conclusion, my old laptop is made in Japan, it is a Fujitsu and I'm pretty sure they test everything before getting shipped out. I'm not sure what is going on over there in China, but I've noticed this problem in 2 Chinese laptops that I've tried out, the HP mini 311 and the Samsung Q320-34P. People, lets get it together and stop making expensive equipment with faulty and unusable parts. It says something when your old machine with twice as less power works beautifully and perfectly and a new state of the art machine performs worse. With the economy how it is, shouldn't we be promoting working QUALITY equipment?????? I would rather pay twice as much for a smooth working machine than half for a non-smooth heaping pile of crap.

I know that all Fujitsu machines are NOT made in Japan and I really would like to believe that it isn't the problem here.

On second note, can we please list some new computers that actually run win 7 smoothly? That way maybe we can narrow this problem down to some actually specs of the computer. I will start:

Computers that work with Windows 7:

    1. Fujitsu A6020 1.66 Duo processor, 2 GB ram, integrated graphics GMA 950

please add to the list because I am in the market to buy something that can actually run windows 7 better than my old system My fujitsu computer needs a lot of repairs such as a new AC port, new inverter, and new cooling fan and it isn't worth to repair it unless i can figure out how to repair it myself which I will probably end up breaking it worse since laptops are like puzzles to take apart.

has anyone found a complete solution? I have tried another computer with the GMA 950 graphics + Atom 1.66 (LOL) and it still plays smooth just like my CoreDuo 1.66 + GMA graphics. It has something to do with HD processor or something. Choppy with Intel 4500HD........did someone say something about disabling virtualization? did that fix it? It seems like this is an issue with ALL new computers. The typing lag is the most annoying part..........anyone have any new info??????

I stumbled upon this forum searching for the same solution, basically whenever I open or close any windows the animation is choppy, Now for the bizarre part... if I have EVGA Precision loaded into memory (system tray) ,its a videocard utlitity for checking temps / adjusting clock speeds etc. I have no idea why it would affect this symptom! Anyhow all my window animations are perfectly smooth with it loaded lol. Figure that one out...

    i7 920 CPU @ stock speed
    6GB Corsair DDR3 1600
    Gigabyte EX58-UD3R
    EVGA GTX 260 Superclocked edition
    Win 7 Ultimate 64-bit.

Supposedly the EVGA program works with any Geforce card from series 6 and higher (6600GT etc.), even non-evga models according to other forums, Im curious if it fixes the choppy window symptom for anyone else: EVGA | EVGA Precision | EVGA Precision

i found that the iCore processors seem to run windows 7 smoother than the newer dual core series P. and I can tell you once again that my oldschool GMA 950 still runs windows 7 smoother than any new computer. i haven't found a solution yet. do you think that EVGA thing really is working? why would it solve the issue any idea yet

the ePrecision thing sounds cool...but the last thing I need is more stuff running in the background. My fix was to simply uncheck "animate windows when minimizing and maximizing" under Performance. That stutter is all but a memory...

However Windows 7 unbelievably annoying sleep issues have done this install in for the time being. I am going back to Vista Business SP2 over the weekend.

Windows 7 will NOT return to sleep after an unattended event (My WHS backup) when the Power Plan is set to High Performance. The Balanced plan is a complete pain in the ass since it sends the machine into a coma every 10 or 20 minutes...I can't work that way so - it's back to something that works....(sigh)...

Have you tired creating and modifying your own power plan?

This isn't a driver problem (for me), because I have the same cracking sound after trying the onboard sound card AND using different USB sound cards.

The problem only happens after the system has been running for a while. A reboot fixes the problem, but then it eventually comes back.

The sound crackles and stutters when the CPU is busy. That is, when I open a Web page, or start a program, I hear pops and garbled sound if I’m playing music.

The problem occurs in any music player (in Windows Media Player, or Winamp).

    Here's what I've tried:

    Installed the latest drivers.
Tried using 2 different external sound cards.
Installed the Codec lite pack .
    Disabled speaker effects (enhancements).
Reset the BIOS to the factory default settings.
    Flashed the system BIOS
Twiddled with every imaginable setting in the Sound panel in Windows 7
Turned off Aero to use a basic theme

    Thanks LOADS for any suggestions!!
