    Graphics card/windows 7

Hi I have just installed windows7 ultimate. Now my graphics card Nvidia Geforce 8400 gs is not working. when I go to the device manager it tells me that windows has stopped it from working because it has problems code 43. If I try to bring up the Nvidia control panel it tells me that I am not running a nvidia cpu. I have gone to the nvidia driver down load site & downloaded the latest windows 7/ 64bit drivers several times to no avail. I have set up this PC to dual boot XP/7. when boot up to XP every thing works fine. So I do not think the graphic card is at fault. My Pc is a home built rig with a dual core amd 64 processor, M2A-VM mother board , 4gig ram & corsair 750 power supply. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

your best bet is to download driver sweeper and clean all the gpu drivers then reboot and proceed to install the driver from the site it should fix the issue

if you have a problem finding driver sweeper just go to download.com they have it there good luck

Hi tried as you suggested & it did not work. I used the driver sweeper. My graphics card still has the same problem. The PC appears to down load & install the latest drivers but the card still does not work. For what ever it is worth I am haveing the same problem with my on board sound. Any ideas where I go fron here.

    Thanks Edison

well most of the time a code 43 means driver error which means there is still a driver being active

you can also look into your bios and see if the card is conflicting with the onboard video
you would want to look in the PCI or intergrated graphics section

some boards you have to turn the feature off in order for the card to function properly

other then that the card could of died too and might need to be replaced

I had sort of a similar issue with a hd6870 kept saying driver stop and has recovered code 43 turns out my card was worthless and had to RMA it

Hi if the card were bad would it still work when I boot in to XP? It works perfectly when booted in to XP As well as the onboard sound works perfectly . The fact that I am haveing a similar problem with my sound tells me something else is wrong. When I first installed windows 7 ultimate I also had a problem with my keyboard as well. The number keys at the top of the keyboard would not work. I took a shot & reinstalled windows. The keyboard worked fine after that but I still have the sound & graphics problem. Sorry to be such a pain but I am at my wits end.

check your PCI latency sometimes if it is too high you will experience graphic card issues plus sound card and crackling

Other then that I think i would wait for a more experienced person to reply hopefully soon

it is in the bios settings upon post start up but i am editing my answer

That wouldn't be the cause after further research

Your card might be incorrectly installed -take it out re install it and dump all drivers before you do

also check all connections cables and power lines -after researching this it could be a bad registry entry bad set up or incorrectly installed card here is alink to the site i was reading from http://answers.yahoo.com/question/in...0104210AAjIBLL

I have no clue also did you try compatibility mode ?

It is used for running software on win 7 with older drivers cards equipment etc
