My 2nd monitor won't go away and is active

I hook my computer up to a TV sometimes, and I never had a problem before this.

I unplugged the HDMI, shut the computer off, and then the next day I turn it on and there were black bars on the sides of my laptop screen. Odd, because both my laptop and TV are 1080. I went into the settings, and it says that I currently have 2 monitors, both active (not small and grayed out). I can't find a way to disable the 2nd monitor, I can only choose what type of dual monitor setup I want.

Any ideas besides reinstalling the graphics card?

    Packers,

What kind of graphics card do you have? Please follow this tutorial so that my replies can be more helpful: Fill out your system specs (this tool may help you out a great deal).

Does it work correctly when you plug the monitor back in? If the monitor isn't being detected, you might read at the bottom of this web page where it talks about a manual detection: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/w...tiple-monitors

Do you have all updates for Windows 7 installed? I recommmend not having any monitor drivers installed, but the most recent graphics card driver is needed.

I just reinstalled the graphics card. I'm the type of person who likes to get to the bottom of things, and not just reinstall something, but in this case it's pretty quick to reinstall the graphics card. Nvidia 460m BTW.
