    Install Failure of Nvidia Drivers

I've been attempting to install the drivers for my new Nvidia GTX 460 today and haven't had any luck. Every time I run the installer it ends partway through the installation with the message: NVIDIA Installer failed
    NVIDIA Update -Not Installed
    PhysX System Software -Not Installed
3D Vision Controller Driver -Not Installed
    HD Audio Driver -Not Installed
    NVIDIA Control Panel -Failed
    Graphics Driver -Failed
    3D Vision Driver -Not Installed

I've scoured the Nvidia forums and these forums as well and haven't had any luck with the fixes I've found.
    Things I've tried :
    - Many different versions of the driver... Same result
    - Uninstalling old drivers, booting into safemode, using Driver Sweeper and attempting to install... Same Result
-Performed a clean boot and then installed... Same
-I have also installed manually through the windows update by navigating to the source files of the driver. Here the result is different; it tells me that the driver was installed successfully, but upon restarting as prompted, it reverts back to the Standard VGA Adaptor.

I've never had this problem before and didn't with my last card which was a NVIDIA 9800GTX.
If I attempt to auto update the driver through the control panel it does recognize my card and downloads and update, but after attempting to install it gives the message, "There is no driver selected for the device information set of element."

TL;DR- Drivers just won't INSTALL! 6 hours and counting. Please help me =)

Download and install the free version of Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, let it run the update then do a FULL scan. If MBAM doesn't find anything, open an Administrative Command Prompt and enter "sfc /verifyonly" (without quotes). Report back what the return message says.

    Hope I'm wrong but this,

    - Uninstalling old drivers, booting into safemode, using Driver Sweeper and attempting to install... Same Result
could likely be the cause of the problem. Doesn't happen often, but occasionally Driver Sweeper will remove more than it should in the way of system files that are required for video drivers to install (can happen with both Nvidia and AMD drivers). If that is what it is, unless you have a backup image (System Restore rarely works for this) from before running Driver Sweeper (no idea how well its built in backup works) the only fix I know of is to re-install Windows to get things to work properly.

Why bother with anything to remove old drivers, Windows can do it. Uninstall before updating them.

I did what you asked Carwiz and when I ran the command it gave me this message after completing: "Windows Resource Protection found integrity violations." Says details are included in the CBS.log- all of which is another language to me.

Well at first I didn't try to do anything except for a regular install process, both with nvidia drivers and then by uninstalling the old ones first as you said, but when that didn't work I started trying other things from "Installation guides" I found online.

Have you tried a non destructive repair install ?

I always unzip the Nvidia driver exe file using Winrar, then run the setup.exe as an administrator... Never had a problem

    Hi,

Since integrity violations have been found, try sfc /scannow.

You might need to run this 3 times in an attempt to fix these violations.
