Monitor loses signal before logon screen

Now before you all link me to other places with the same problem, mine is a little different.

I turn on the computer, goes past the bios screen as normal, does the windows loading screen as normal, then the screen goes black and the "No Signal" message is displayed.

Now, here is why it is different. I type in my password and press enter, without being able to see and wait for the logon sound to play, then if I unplug monitors cable, I hear the noise of windows telling me a device has been disconnected, I plug it back in again the device connection noise then plays and low and behold, there is the desktop.

I have been running Windows 7 build 7100 for roughly about three weeks until this started happening about one week ago.

    MONITOR: ViewSonic VX1932wm
    GPU: Sapphire HD4850 512mb

Also, I have noticed too after logging, randomly Aero will disable itself, I have to open the 'Personalize' option and run the troubleshoot to get it to fix itself again.

I assume this is the correct section, as I am experiencing visual issues. Apologies if this is not the correct section.

Any suggestions are much appreciated. Thanks.

This could be down to a number of issues. In no particular order, these are graphics and/or monitor drivers, a faulty graphics card, faulty monitor cable. If your graphics card has another port, try to connect to that one. Do you use a DVI-VGA adapter plug? If so, it is possible that this has become damaged (I've had this issue with mine). Fortunately, they are cheap and easily replaced. If your card requires additional power, ensure that this is connected and that the card is correctly seated.

Thanks for the reply, Dwarf. :)

Don't think the graphics card or monitor cable are faulty, I mean once I unplug and plug back in, it all works perfectly fine, can still run games etc. without fault. I don't use an adapter, it is simply DVI out from the video card, straight into the monitor.

Tried the second DVI port on the graphics card with the same problem.

Now, as it comes down to drivers. I think I may have fixed it, for now that is... I disabled the driver for the monitor in the 'Devices and Printers' section. But also updated to the latest Catalyst Control Centre and actual video drivers. I did a hot reboot and I could see the logon screen. So which ever one of those two things that has fixed the issue I am not entirely sure.

    Thanks again, Martin.

I will keep the thread updated if it happens again after a cold boot.

EDIT: Alright, the blank screen is properly fixed now, after the cold boot it all worked normally.

Now there is just the issue of the Aero effects randomly being disabled after a few seconds on startup...
