    Cheapest Radeon 4850?

I'm in the USA. Without going to Newegg, where's the cheapest place I can get an ATI Radeon HD 4850?

Hello Cam, you could try Tigerdirect, I myself have never purchased anything from their site but I have heard as many good things about them, as I have newegg.

Are you looking for a 1 Gigabyte 4850?

    Tiger Direct: 512MB Radeon 4850

    Tiger Direct: 1GB Radeon 4850

    Tiger Direct: 1GB Radeon 4850

    Tiger Direct: 2GB Radeon 4850

As a die-hard Newegg user for many years, may I ask why you don't want to use Newegg? I recently got two 1GB 4850's from them...

I second that, here's what Newegg is giving:
    Newegg.com - Desktop Graphics / Video Cards,radeon 4850

You didn't specify what you're exactly looking for as in specs, but that's where I'd start.

I agree with you. I only use Newegg for the reviews now. Being a California resident, I don't like that I have to pay taxes on internet sales on top of shipping costs when I'm free to shop in other states online and only pay shipping.

I found a great company out in Texas called Directron. I bought this card last week:

    PowerColor AX4850 1GBD3-PH Radeon HD4850 1GB HDMI GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 Video Card for $113.99

PowerColor AX4850 1GBD3-PH Radeon HD4850 1GB 256-bit HDMI GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 Video Card CrossFireX and HDCP Ready DVI VGA HDMI-Best Computer Online Store Houston Buy Discount Prices Texas-Directron.com

Newegg has this same card for $119.99 and they have a $15 rebate, however, this is how it breaks down if I was to buy if from them:

    Cost: $119.99
    tax: 9.90
    shipping: 6.98

    Total: $136.87
    - rebate = $121.87 --- but when will the rebate arrive? 3 months? 6 months?

Here's what I bought last week from Directron:
    Name Code Qty Each Options
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Serial ATA 150 Cable, CABLE-SATA 2x $1.50

    *$10 Instant Rebate* CS-HTPC-2000B 1 $89.99 Instant Rebate = $10 off, Instant Black nMEDIAPC HTPC-2000B Rebate(+-10.00) Aluminum / Steel ATX
Media Center HTPC Case, w/ Card Reader, eSATA and1394. (Newegg price: $109.99)

    2.8GHz 1066MHz Socket 775 Dual-core 45nm Processor, *Free Ground Shipping* CPU-BX80571E6300 1 $82.99 Retail Box (Newegg price: $83.99)

    *$10 Instant Rebate* PSU-CU-600B 1 $44.99 Instant Rebate = $10 off, Instant Black CoolMax 600W ATX12V Rebate(+-10.00) (Newegg price: $59.99)

    PowerColor AX4850 VD-AX4850-1GBD3-PH 1 $113.99 (Newegg price: $119.99)
    1GBD3-PH Radeon HD4850
    1GB HDMI GDDR3 PCI
    Express 2.0 Video Card.
    Retail Box

    Nmedia Media Center ADP-PRO-LCD 1 $34.99 (Newegg: N/A)
    Programmable LCD Module,
    Supports Below nMediaPC
    HTPC Case Series, Model:
    PRO-LCD. OEM

    Subtotal $369.95
    Shipping $27.15
    Tax 0.00
    Total $397.10
I save about $50 by not buying from Newegg. As a matter of fact, because of this, that is why I bought the Nmedia Media Center ADP-PRO-LCD 1. It's not necessary for the HTPC case, but it looks cool and Directron is one of the only stores that carry it for my HTPC case.

From now on, I'm going through Directron. It may take about 3 days longer, but they are good, they notify you when your shipment was sent - with tracking number, and I get a discount if I ship to my place of employment (anyone gets a discount if they ship to a commercial address).

But there you go. The PowerColor is a pretty awesome video card.

My friend bought two of that specific card and he's running them on Crossfire. Says they churn through everything! I think they beat my GTX285!
