Windows 7 - AMD Catalyst Control Center won't detect my monitor.

Hi,

I just bought an HP Pavilion dv7-6120sx equipped with ATI Mobility Radeon HD 6770 running Windows 7 home premium. I've been trying to remove the scaling option in the Catalyst Control Center, but it detects no monitor under the Advanced Display Settings.



Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Are you trying to connect it to an external monitor/TV ?

No, it just won't detect my built in display.

Did you update the graphic drivers/ccc from AMD's website?

I wouldn't be too quick to be trying the driver from AMD, especially if that laptop has switchable graphics as the AMD driver won't work. It takes both the Intel driver (for which the GPU is integrated into the CPU) and the AMD driver for both to work properly. Pretty sure that it does seeing as HP has both the Intel and AMD driver available (that and the AMD driver from HP has the Intel driver integrated into it. And yes I downloaded it and checked). May be why the display isn't being detected.

coolbyte when you click on the Information tab in CCC, what does it show for driver version, etc?

It didn't allow me to install the driver, though i did install CCC individually but that didn't solve my problem so i used HP Recovery Manager to reset to factory condition.




I downloaded the latest AMD High-Definition Graphics Driver version: 8.882.2.3000, and this is what i'm running.

This looks like it could be one of those that you're going to have to take it up with HP as they are solely responsible for the drivers for it, more so that the laptop uses both the Intel graphics (for light, lower power use; and the AMD for things that require more graphics power, or when plugged in). There isn't much we can do for you if HP screwed up the installer, that is unless there is someone here that knows what to look for in the INF(s) in the install files.

The drivers for both may have come from Intel and AMD respectively, but it is HP that is responsible for making sure that they work together for the switchable graphics to work. It also takes as I mentioned previously both drivers being installed for things to work properly.

Is there anyway i can remove the scaling in games i run on the high performance GPU without using CCC?

I do not think this laptop has the dual graphic chips, that said, AMD has the mobility drivers listed on their website and they should work on this HP laptop, just be sure to choose the mobility drivers or you can let the website check your system and then it will show you what drivers are available for you system. Just make a restore point and then try the new AMD drivers, if they do not work you can then always roll back.

It won't install, i can just install CCC individually.
