PCI graphic cards
I was planning on buy a new graphics card. But my motherboard has a pci express x16 slot.
Would it be able to hold a pci express 2.1 x16 card?

Depends on your board. Fill in your system specs.
Looks like it can. Not too sure about the 2.1 thing though. Someone should be able to sort it out.
Expansion Slots:
- 1 PCI Express x16 slot for graphics card
- 3 PCI Express x1 slots
as we have a multi post ill copy and paste my answer across as ether or will be deleted.
the appalling information given by HP doesnt even detail what kind of pci version it has.
Its definitely pci e and 16x lol, id hazard a guess at 2.0.
Now that doesnt hugely matter as PCI is backwards compatible, and the difference between a pci 2.1 and 2.0 is minimal, the speed tranfers are still the same.
Im going to be blunt and say you cant really upgrade your GPU to anything half decent with your current power supply. As its only 300w it is less than most modern cards draw.
a 500w+ is recommended.
so you need to factor in the price of a branded PSU before you look into getting a new card.
I just installed a 16 bit PCI express Nividia GT Force 430 card with no problem. Price was $90 and it has 3D capability. My power supply is 375W.
I loaded The Godfather and FltSim X.. Both work fine. Don't have any of the latest games...yet. To enable the 3D feature, you have to get another component that works with the card. It's wireless. The card has 1gb on-board RAM and a dedicated fan. We'll see if the power supply is adequate.
