You seem to have a notebook with both onboard Intel graphics and a mobile nVidia graphics adapter.

    Optimus Technology

I have no personal experience with it. I suppose that there must be some way to force the use of the nVidia adapter when it isn't used automatically, but I don't know what it is.

I have exactly the same problem. My notebook has 2 graphic cards:
    - Intel HD Graphics 3000 (onboard) and
    - nVidia GeForce GT 640M (discrete)
but dxdiag displays the onboard Intel instead of the nVidia.

I already tried to change that by using the instructions I found on this page:
How to Make the Onboard Graphics Card Secondary | eHow.com
but my BIOS does not have the needed options.
Does anyone know an alternative way to fix that problem?
