Ok i run a 700 watt cooler master extreme i was chatting with Badger about this and he wasn't too sure of the requirments for this I found a post stating 650 would be plenty

Also my box recommened 600 watt psu plus i am Oc'ed already

here is my Psu specs

Tommy thought id answer in here as you sent me this way

according to AMD

500 Watt or greater power supply with two 75W 6-pin PCI Express® power connectors recommended (600 Watt and four 6-pin connectors for AMD CrossFireX™ technology in dual mode)

soo i was wrong in my earlier comment, but youd need to run the second card on a separate rail so if you only have one rail with the 4/6 pin ends you'd have to spur from another rail with an adapter.

I figured as much 52 amps is enough correct if i get an adapter ?

yeah should be, as long as you dont have a psu with selective rails. what i mean by that is some PSU's limit the amount of watts a rail can pull, say like 150w, thats fine for a couple of hard drives, but obviously not for a gpu. soo make sure your PSU can draw ***w from a single molex or serial rail. shouldnt be an issue with a modern PSU, then again most PSU's have crossfire in mind.

it's cool i can call the techs at the store to double check which probaly won't help but won't hurt to ask

It would be a cheaper route and i could get it rolling tonight which would be cool

thought i recognized that power supply, i have the 650w version chugging away in my server

on that note im going to crawl into my hole.. wait no.. badgers live in sets..? meh

Ok the guy at frys was saying i would need about a 850w because im running a OC 4.0 ghz 5 -120 mm fans two 80 mm fans on the heatsink

Do you think this is true ?

But he said it would run on this PSU fine untill i told him my system specs

Guess im safe this is my tottal wattage for what i have i have more then enough head room

Off to the Store im going to take advantage of the crossfire set up

Also if anyone has any thoughts they care to add like do i need to uninstall the driver install the card then fire up and re install

cause i dont want to scrww this up i never X fired before so advice would be cool but till then im off to grab that second card my set up will be beastly

I forgot to mention this is also with the card added crossfire that i dont have yet

update i just purchased a second 6870 but instead of the same diamond brand i got the twin frozer 6870

I plan to install and bench if it doesnt do well or work well i will return and go with the 6970

this is the Benches i got useing 11.12

Everytime i run Unigene in crossfire it fails or fatal error on the program it did that with my single card what gives ?

It did that before the xfire set up by the way is it just the program is messed up

it ran fine the first run with no xfire enabled max fram was 117.8 min was 33.2 Xfire enabled
there is a snip of the finish benches

Benchmarks are all fine and good, but how does it run your games?

Do you have FRAPS installed? Fire up you biggest problem game and see how that works out.....

Games run very fast and the post through boot was so fast the sound was catching up to the picture on the screen

That's a boost i didnt anticipate ,seems to be handling the xfire well

I just wish the unigine program would stop dropping errors maybe it needs to be re install other benches ran fine with no issues

With fraps i get 60+ frames Batman-AA runs fantastic
