GTX 560 Ti:Transparant horizontal lines while gaming

    Hey!

I've got a scan lines (horizontal) going up as if It's scanning a paper!?
This only occurs when playing (all) games without VSYNC. Leaving VSYNC on solves the problem but I'm more used to play on higher framerate. Movements feel very slow when leaving it on (especially on FPS games).

I've taken screenshots but it's not visible.

Also there's something fishy going on:

    Additional info:
-my graphics card is not overlocked
-Not overheating when leaving vsync off (remains below 60C)
-I'm using the official MSI drivers for my MSI GTX 560 Ti Twin Frozr OC edition (ForceWare 280.26)
-Using VGA cable with a DVI adapter for my graphics card

Here's the exact problem I've found on the internet: Getting Scan Lines in High End Gaming on GTX 560

To me this seems more related to the monitor or cable/adapter than the graphics card itself.

If this were related to the card going south I wouldn't expect ....

...actually why are you having to use an adapter?
Any monitor made in the last 10 years should have dvi on it, if not hdmi.

v sync is for that very reason to stop tearing. you only turn it on if you need it.

You know it hadn't occurred to me, could he just be describing really bad tearing?

Do these lines only happen when things are moving around on the screen?

Nope, I'm not getting any sort of screen tearing. The graphics are looking very clear. It's just that my entire screen is covered by a horizontal transparant scanline going up. It happens on every game (even on less graphic intense games like CSS). I've no idea what is causing this, but it is gone on its own when vsync is turned on.

I will try a different monitor soon..will inform when it's fixed

    Hi Blessmeh,

I've got a similar issue to you. I've narrowed it down to being worst while the screen goes to sleep then resumes. try putting the screen to sleep (using power options in windows) and then move your mouse to turn the screen back on again, does the problem appear? Or is it worst after doing this?

Ok this this.. Now unplug the cable from the back of your graphics card, wait until the monitor goes blank, wait 10 seconds and plug is back in again. Does the problem go away?

For me removing the cable and pluggin it back in again solves the thin ghost lines from scrolling upwards, until the screen goes to sleep again. Its annoying and we need a solution!

Please respond to let me know, thanks.

I think I may of narrowed it down. This is what ive found.

If booting the pc at 59hz (default in the display settings) there are no lines apparent, if the display goes to sleep and awakes, the lines appear.

If booting the pc at 60hz, the same applies.

Once the display has been in sleep mode and come out of sleep results in scrolling lines. To remove them I can either unplug the display cable from the graphics card and plug it back in or / change the refresh rate to 60hz (note if the display is already at 60hz, changing the refresh to 59hz and back to 60hz also works).

If the Pc boots at 60hz, not letting the display sleep, so no artifacts, changing the refresh to 59hz causes the display to show scrolling lines, so now, not only does the display falling sleeping bring these artifacts, but changing the refresh rate to 59hz does aswell. Fix - changing the refresh to 60hz removes the artifacts. Better fix than unplugging the display cable each time.

Conclusion - something other than the display properties is telling my monitor to awake from standby at 59hz - causing the artifacts to show, even if the display properties remains set at 60hz.

Just to be clear about this, my display is a 42" Lg427000 model lcd tv with hdmi inputs and the display is running at 1080p.
