A KVM switch connects two VGA cables to two monitors on one side of itself, whilst on the primary side of the switch it has a single VGA cable fed from a graphics card... so at the flick of the switch you can select VGA to your screen, or VGA to your TV...

Can't really recommend as I've been off VGA for years, and the products in Canada will not match those I could necessarily obtain here in the UK... however you must remember you may require a switch which incorporates audio switching too... not only Amazon offer them, so will eBay, and if you have Tandy, Radiospares, Radioshack, RS Components, etc, etc, in your locale then you may be able to buy over the counter...  | | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Custom built machine

Please post a photograph of the rear of your PC because none of this is making sense and you haven't listed your motherboard in your system specifications - if you are making a mistake and the HDMI port is a motherboard based one then just whip out the graphics card, and attempt making it work afresh. | | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Custom built machine
