Can I connect a graphics card with 6pin power connector, to a 4pin?

As the topic implies, can I use a 6-pin graphic card when I only have 4 pins on my motherboard? I want to upgrade to a gtx 550 ti, and my motherboard is Asus P5KPL AM-SE. Can I use this card?

    P.S. Sorry, I am still a noob at computers.;3

The GPU doesn't plug into the mobo directly by a 4 pin connection. The GPU gets plugged into a PCI slot on the mobo and then GPU is powered by the PSU. The PSU should have 4 pin and 6 pin power connections. The GPU itself will determine whether it's a 4 pin connection or 6 pin connection and if 1 or more connections are needed. I have an ATI HD 4870 that requires 2, 6 pin connections.

Some graphic cards come with a molex to 6 pin adapter and unless you use all your molex connections, you should be able to use the adapter. If you don't have an adapter you can also buy one pretty cheap for like a buck or two. I know this doesn't exactly answer your question but it an alternative solution.

6 pin to 8 pin power connector works but not sure about 4 pin to 6 pin.
