Mind you, it's expensive! My computer cost me about £800 when I got it the year before last, then my parents got a comparable compact Acer last year for about £270. Kicking myself, I was. I've fitted my new card, and all is well with the gaming. Unfortunately, I'm still getting flicker on the monitor. It's changed though, from the vertical bands to a general grainy flicker. I don't want to open it up to check the capacitors in case that voids the warranty. What think ye, is it worth complaining to the manufacturer? | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Fujitsu P9900 0-Watt OS Windows 7 Professional x64 SP 1 CPU Intel Core i5 - 3.2 GHz - Dual Core Motherboard D2912 - μBTX Memory 4 GB Graphics Card Asus Radeon HD 6770 1 GB Sound Card Realtek ALC663 Monitor(s) Displays Fujitsu SL 3230T 23" LCD TFT Screen Resolution 1920 x 1080 Keyboard Fujitsu KB400 PS/2 Mouse Fujitsu OPT FSC BC PSU Corsair CX500 Case Mini Tower Hard Drives 500 GB Seagate / 500 GB Western Digital external HDD. I've tried it with a different monitor, an 18.5 in widescreen. I only had it connected for a short time, but I ran S.T.A.L.K.E.R. and I didn't notice the flicker. I don't have Catalyst any more, the ASUS software is just Asus SmartDoctor, Asus Splendid and Asus Gamer OSD. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Fujitsu P9900 0-Watt OS Windows 7 Professional x64 SP 1 CPU Intel Core i5 - 3.2 GHz - Dual Core Motherboard D2912 - μBTX Memory 4 GB Graphics Card Asus Radeon HD 6770 1 GB Sound Card Realtek ALC663 Monitor(s) Displays Fujitsu SL 3230T 23" LCD TFT Screen Resolution 1920 x 1080 Keyboard Fujitsu KB400 PS/2 Mouse Fujitsu OPT FSC BC PSU Corsair CX500 Case Mini Tower Hard Drives 500 GB Seagate / 500 GB Western Digital external HDD. It's really quite irritating, I'm even getting flicker when I'm just browsing the web, with no other demanding programs running. :S-
I'm also hearing a faint buzzing noise from the monitor every now and again. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Fujitsu P9900 0-Watt OS Windows 7 Professional x64 SP 1 CPU Intel Core i5 - 3.2 GHz - Dual Core Motherboard D2912 - μBTX Memory 4 GB Graphics Card Asus Radeon HD 6770 1 GB Sound Card Realtek ALC663 Monitor(s) Displays Fujitsu SL 3230T 23" LCD TFT Screen Resolution 1920 x 1080 Keyboard Fujitsu KB400 PS/2 Mouse Fujitsu OPT FSC BC PSU Corsair CX500 Case Mini Tower Hard Drives 500 GB Seagate / 500 GB Western Digital external HDD. I think so, panais. Just now, the screen went blank (well, full of grey lines with really bad flicker overlaid) and I had to turn the machine off at the wall and restart it. A few minutes later, the exact same thing happened, so I changed the monitor for the smaller one. No problems at all. No flicker, no blanking out.
I'm going to get onto Fujitsu and get them to replace it under warranty. The 6770 will do you OK, if you play any newer games at high res. and eye candy you would be pushing it. However you should be able to even play BF3 if you are so inclined. | My System Specs | | OS win 7 Pro 64 bit CPU X3210 @3.6gb Motherboard Asus P5K Premium/WiFi Memory 4 X 1gb Gskill DDR2 Graphics Card Sapphire 4890 Vapor X 1GB Sound Card Creative XFi Extreme Gamer Fatality Pro Monitor(s) Displays 2 X Dell 1908FP Screen Resolution 1280 x 1024 Keyboard Saitek Gamers KYB Mouse MX-510 PSU Pc Power and Cooling 850 SSI Turbo Case Lian Li Pc7b-modded Cooling Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 pro rev 2 Hard Drives Kingston SSDNow V 64GB
