It is? I just don't know about these things, not a clue! From personal experience Fujitsu Siemens (now Fujitsu) have always been a solid, reliable manufacturer. Their stuff seems to last. I try to only use Fujitsu peripherals.

Mind you, it's expensive! My computer cost me about £800 when I got it the year before last, then my parents got a comparable compact Acer last year for about £270. Kicking myself, I was. Still, live and learn, eh?

I've fitted my new card, and all is well with the gaming. Unfortunately, I'm still getting flicker on the monitor. It's changed though, from the vertical bands to a general grainy flicker. I don't want to open it up to check the capacitors in case that voids the warranty. What think ye, is it worth complaining to the manufacturer?

I've tried it with a different monitor, an 18.5 in widescreen. I only had it connected for a short time, but I ran S.T.A.L.K.E.R. and I didn't notice the flicker. I don't have Catalyst any more, the ASUS software is just Asus SmartDoctor, Asus Splendid and Asus Gamer OSD.

It's really quite irritating, I'm even getting flicker when I'm just browsing the web, with no other demanding programs running. :S-

I'm also hearing a faint buzzing noise from the monitor every now and again.

If the problem occurs only with this monitor then it may be a faulty monitor?

I think so, panais. Just now, the screen went blank (well, full of grey lines with really bad flicker overlaid) and I had to turn the machine off at the wall and restart it. A few minutes later, the exact same thing happened, so I changed the monitor for the smaller one. No problems at all. No flicker, no blanking out.

I'm going to get onto Fujitsu and get them to replace it under warranty. Thanks for your help, guys!

The 6770 will do you OK, if you play any newer games at high res. and eye candy you would be pushing it. However you should be able to even play BF3 if you are so inclined.
