Two ATI cards, different genus, diff drivers. Will it work?

gang this actually has to do with a slightly older generation HP sr2170nx, which has embedded ATI x1100 series vid parts, and has PCI Express x16 graphics slot. when a ati 5450-based card is added into the system, no worky.
I'm just wondering if I need to "uninstall" and/or disable the onboard AND remove the embedded device's drivers?
anyone know?

You're going to have to uninstall the drivers for and disable in the bios the onboard video, as it uses a different driver model than the HD 5450. For why,

Mixing it up Geforce GTX 260 and a Geforce FX 5500

Link me a PCI ATI card that works with Win7 64 and available on amazon

Basically the driver for the onboard is stopping the driver for the card to work.
