How can I limit refresh rates?

If you didn't do a custom install and just in case it is what is causing the problem, open Programs and Features and uninstall the 3D Vision driver/software. Select the Nvidia entry in Programs and Features and it should open a small window that allows you to select to either uninstall everything or pick and choose which parts to uninstall.

P.S. It won't hurt anything to uninstall it either, unless you have the Nvidia 3D Vision kit and a 120 Hz monitor. Still have no idea why Nvidia insists on it installing automatically when people don't have the necessary hardware.

On the back of the monitor it says X24WG-1080p - not sure if that is the same as the naga model.

If I go to the advanced page, I see a "Hide modes that this monitor cannot display" checkbox but it is grayed out. With the previous NVIDIA driver it was not grayed out, but the only thing it did when I clicked it was to take away the custom resolutions I had added. With the newer NVIDIA driver it already has 1900x1200 so I didn't need to add it.

The "Hide" checkbox is grayed out now with Generic Non-Pnp Monitor and Generic PnP Monitor. Also, the refresh rates listed there are 60,70,72,75,85,100. I have a feeling that if this list only had 60 maybe that would help.

I tried the Vista driver above but it did not work. When I try to add it through Monitor Properties ... => Have Disk, I get:

The folder you specified doesn't contain a compatible software driver for your device. If the folder contains a driver, make sure it is designed to work with Windows x64-based systems

Also, I uninstalled both 3D Vision components to no effect.

I'm thinking as long as the full screen game I'm using allows me to choose a resolution and refresh rate and it defaults to one with 60Hz I'll be fine. But if that is not true I'll be dead in the water. So, depending on what I choose I may be Ok, but I would much rather not have to face the uncertainty, especially since once I get past 30 days it becomes much more difficult if not impossible to return or swap out parts without just having to spend more money.

I tried that and i got the same message as above. Maybe I'm not doing it right? I'm going into Screen Resolution -> Advanced Settings -> Monitor -> Properties -> Driver -> Update Driver -> Browse My Computer -> Let Me Pick -> Have Disk then I point to the folder with the inf file in it.

The Hardware Ids property shows:

MONITOR\Default_Monitor

Tried all 3 combinations, same result.
