    Display issue in Win7

My brother-in-law and myself built a new desktop computer for my family to use, and the only problem I'm running into is that the monitor that the computer is hooked up to does not support the resolution that the desktop is set to when Windows loads normally.

Basically, we installed Windows 7 with the computer hooked up to a monitor which had a native 1920x1080px resolution, however the monitor that the desktop is now hooked up to has a native resolution of 1440x900px. I'm currently using Safe Mode with Networking, and I've already tried resetting the resolution in SM but nothing worked. If anyone can help me with this, that would be fantastic.

What card/drivers are you running? Might not hurt to give us the model of monitor you're using as well.

I have an ATI Radeon 4550 graphics card hooked up to a ProViiew monitor (not sure which model, but it's a 19" widescreen monitor) with a DVI and 2 VGA connections.

I now have a new problem, and it's to do with displaying through DVI. It isn't the cable though because I had it connected originally and the boot sequence showed. I have the DVI and VGA connections hooked up to the monitor which reset the resolution but as soon as I tell the desktop to display only DVI, it says that the display cannot be detected.

(bump) I ran into more issues with the display. Read the post above for more details.
