Suggested Process To Install A Replacement Card

I have an AMD 4250 IGP. Bought a 6670 for an upgrade.
Using an AMD driver two updates old.
Would you uninstall the old driver, insert new card,
and run new driver update or will the existing driver
work without any fiddling around ?

I'd uninstall the existing driver.

I'm not sure that it's necessary, though.
