not getting display via single link dvi d cable

greetings to all,

this is my first post as sevenforums user:).

as the title of my thread suggests i am not getting the display using single link dvi d cable. presently, i am using dvi to vga converter to get the display. i have HP 2009f monitor and it has dvi input.

when i connect my system with dvi d single link cable i am not getting any display and the monitor after scanning for the display signal, finds no signal and goes to sleep.

i was wondering, is there anything to be done in bios? i have onboard graphics on i7 2600 and am using dh67bl as my motherboard.

Have you tried explicitly setting the monitor input source to DVI via the Switch Video Input option in its OSD menu?

thanks for the prompt reply.

well i have switched the default source on my monitor to dvi and have also set the auto switch "on". i only connect my monitor with dvi cable but its not showing the display. it scans for the input signal twice, but finding no input signal the monitor goes to sleep.

i have kept the auto switch on because, i fear if the default source is dvi and the monitor is not able to see dvi source it may not allow me to change the display back to vga.

further, i have a dvi d cable. do i need dvi i to dvi d converter/wire for the connection? maybe my mobo dh67bl output port is dvi i and my monitor input is dvi d (i know my monitor has dvi d for sure)

You seem to have the proper pieces. Your motherboard has a DVI-I output. Your 20" monitor should be happy with a single-link DVI-D cable.

The obvious thing to do would be to troubleshoot with the aid of known good components (PC, cable, monitor). If you don't have access to any of those, this suggestion isn't worth much.
