Monitor not recognized when computer resumes from sleep mode

I'm not sure if this is a video card issue (AMD Radeon HD 6770), driver issue or monitor issue. I just rebuilt my system (Win7 Pro 64 bit) and everything has been functioning correctly for about two day. Now, when my computer resumes from sleep mode, my resolution defaults to 600 x 800 and says it is a generic PnP monitor. If I unplug the display port cable from the back of the computer and plug it back in, everything immediately goes back to normal and the system recognizes my monitor and goes to the correct resolution settings. This does not happen on a restart or after a shutdown, only after a resume from sleep mode and about 60% of the time. This never occurred before the rebuild so I am wondering if I have a driver conflict somewhere? I changed the setting in the monitor from auto to display port, but that did not change anything. I have been using the display port connection since I got the monitor without issue. All of my Windows updates and drivers are up-to-date and the driver version for my video card say 8.960.0.0, March 15/12.

If you can, disconnect and reconnect the device or try restarting your computer. You can also make sure that you have the most current drivers for all of your devices.

I uninstalled and reinstalled the monitor driver. So far all is well with resuming from sleep mode. I have a paid subscription to a driver program so I know all my drivers are up to date. This problem just started happening after I reinstalled my OS last week so I think I was dealing with a driver confict.

Hey James, thanks for the info. I've used the driver program for a few years now and have not had any weird issues (other than this one) that I can recall. The program has also been good at finding missing drivers when Windows cannot locate them, mainly on XP machines. Windows 7 does a great job of finding and installing drivers. Seeing as the problem began after I reloaded the OS a week ago, I suspect a bad driver somewhere is causing the issue. I may blow it all away and start from scratch this weekend as the problem still persists. First I will remove the video card and try the onboard video to see if it is something to do with the video card driver.
