Graphics freeze and restart during MW3 on new build machine

Built a new machine at the weekend.
    Specs:

    Intel i5 2500k 3.30ghz
    8gb ram
Win 7 home premium 64 bit
    gfx card
    Amd Radeon HD7700
Running the game off an SSD, not that that particularly should cause this problem, I imagine.

Game plays fine mostly, but three times now the game has frozen. On two occasions it froze in spot, sound still going, the screen went black, then redrew and played fine. One occasion it just stuck solid and I had to hard reset.

Any idea what would cause it?
I'm pretty sure all the main drivers are up to date, I sorted that out after the build. I thought maybe there was an issue last time as there were some surprise Windows updates after the crash and restart...but seemingly not.

Please let me know if you wish to see event logs and the like.
"Display driver amdkmdap stopped responding and has successfully recovered." is what it says.

    Thanks.

Please Update your system specs with all of your new equipment.

    PSU and MoBo are missing.

Are you running the current driver for your GPU?

Apologies, MB is Gigabyte Z68X-UD3P Intel Z68 and I have a 700w PSU.

GPU drivers are most recent ones which were available to update when I downloaded them on Saturday.

There are various reasons for a display driver to crash.

    • Outdated motherboard chipset drivers(BIOS)
    • Overheating problems
    • Overloaded power supply issues
    • Old display drivers
    • Improper connection between graphic card and slot

    I will check the bios.
I don't think it's heat - Speccy has had me at a cool sub 50c since this machine started, not gone over that.
Not sure about the power - will consult someone with more knowledge than I.
Display drivers are new. Connection should be sound. Hrrm. Testing to do.
    Thanks

I have a very similar issue, new build computer, Gigabyte z68xp-UD5 motherboard.

In event viewer I get an atapi error code 11, do you get the same error code in event viewer? Had this issue for weeks and haven't been able to find a fix!
