Heatsinks to bring down GPU temps

Wow, it happened again stopped receiving mails if someone had replied, but oh well. I have about 9 fans in my 800D and been playing around a lot with intake/exhaust and atm they are as optimal as I can get it, and yes the card idles at 45-47 when the door to my room is open when nothing is running at all, and with closed door it idles at around 50-51, I have also noticed that my card is stuck and running at full power all the time the setting for 3d applications, could this be because I have turned of C-states in bios? I did try putting a 140 mm noctua fan right under the card and that did not budge the temps with even 1 degree. My gaming temps when I run games like starcraft II it sit around 63-70c. My main concern is would my graphic card take any damage if I add small heat sinks to the open vram modules, or am I just being paranoid with the heat.

Really sorry for double post. Looked that cooler up and it could work height wise and not that expensive so I will see if I can find some reviews about it before I decide on it

Not sure if you know this, but this is in the emails from SF thread replies.

There may also be other replies, but you will not receive any more notifications until you visit the forum again.

I click on the email forum thread link...no problems here, they work as i expect they should.
Maybe "forum again" should be "forum thread again" ?

Well another way of looking at this is the GTX260 which I have as well in another machine only it's a BFG version with factory oc, it has DDR3 memory which uses more power than todays current DDR5 GPU's. Rather than try to make the 260 cool down I would jump on a DDR5 current edition graphics card either Ati or Nvidia and use the aftermarket cooler as a down payment towards a new kick arse card and then sell the Gtx260 to someone as it's still a great entry level card!

That would be sweet but I just got a part time work so the money is a bit slow, but I have been looking at the (Asus Geforce GTX 560 1GB DirectCU II TOP) the money is why I am trying to find the cheapest option to bring down the heat, and if I would sell the card after buying a new one no idea how much I would get for it considering the card is 4 years old

Andreas, as the card isn't heating up too much to worry about it, even when under stress, I would focus on saving the money until you could buy a new card, not worrying about the heat issue. There really isn't a problem there. Just make sure your room is ventilated and doesn't get too warm, and you'll be fine.

About the email notification problem, at the top of the forum you will notice the links bar with links listed as quick links, new posts, etc. and User CP. Click the latter and under conrol panel on the far left, scrolling down you will eventually come to a link to "edit options" (under 'settings and options'). Click it, and scroll down the page until you come across options to change email notifications to "instant notification". Do this and you will receive emails again.

Ok, I will just save my money then in till I can afford the other card from what I have read should run really cool. And now when you mention it I think it's the lack of ventilation in my room. A few days ago I moved the computer about 1 meter away from the door and right away I saw cpu and gpu running 2-3c hotter but there is little I can do to increase the room ventilation

The other thing that directly effects the temps is keeping your fan blades and filters clean. Then when you are inside the case hit all fins with compressed air and vacuum away all dust.

That is being done regularly but not to often. So I guess that pretty much means that I have no air circulation here or at least not much

Edit #1: Don't want to double post again, but yeah I opened up my case and for some reason I had all my 9 fans AND my H80 connected and getting power from 1 molex rail connector or what they are called. I changed that so my H80 is on its own molex rail and my 9 fans is on its own and that actually brought down the temps on both GPU and CPU so I guess they was getting to little power. And because its just me being paranoid with the heat on the GPU I will go ahead and mark this as solved since I don't need to worry about it.
