Hi,
My pc has got similar hardware to yours:

CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E6300 Conroe @1.86 GHz (2 cores, 2 MB L2)
Motherboard: Asus P5LP-LE Leonite (Socket LGA 775)
Memory: 3 GB DDR2 Dual Channel PC2-5300 (2x512 MB + 2x1024 MB)
Screen Resolution: 1600x900 @59/60Hz
PSU: NILOX 600W

i'm using a PNY GTS 450, which has got:
- 1GB 128bit GDDR5 @902 MHz (3600 MHz effective)
- 783 MHz GPU clock
- 1566 MHz shader clock
- HDMI/DVI
- supports DirectX 11 and shader model 5
- supports PCI express 2.0
- supports Nvidia PhysX, Nvidia 3D vision and Nvidia SLI tecnology [= ATI crossfire (= multi-GPU acceleration)]
- it is silent and flexible when overclocking it
(comparable with an ATI Radeon HD 5770 or an HD 5830)

I bought it for 120, but you can find it online at a lower price. With it i'm able to play all games (from UT3 to Battlefield 3) at high setting without seeing fps drops. It is a very nice GPU and i suggest you to consider to buy it.

But if you want a grapics card which is in your list, well now let's see at them.

The HD 5670 is a medium-low class graphics card with DirectX 11 and shader model 5 support: with this card you will play games at medium settings without problems. But I don't suggest it, because i bought an HD 5670 before installing my GTS 450, and I experienced issues* with it. In fact HD 5670 supports (or better, need) a PCI express 2.1 or 2.0 slot, and if you use it on a PCI express 1.0/1.1 slot it won't work and it will not display nothing on your screen (our motherboards have got only PCI express 1.1). I tested it!
Also HD 5670's DDR3 memory is slower than HD 5670's GDDR5 memory. If you want to buy it, search for the GDDR5 edition.

Slower than an HD 5670, it supports DirectX 11/shader model 5 and Nvidia PhysX. Anyway it is cheap and silent, but if you search reviews or comments of it on internet you will find that it isn't really a good card for games.

Very similar to the HD 5670, but slower and cheaper. I don't know if it has issues* in PCI express 1.0/1.1 slots like the HD 5670.

This graphics card supports only DirectX 10.1 and NOT DirectX 11 (and only shader model 4.1), and it doesn't support Nvidia SLI tecnology, but supports Nvidia 3D vision. It is comparable with Radeon HD 46xx/47xx series GPUs. It isn't really bad for games! (nice is the GDDR5 memory)

One of the Radeon HD 6000 series. Supports DirectX 11/shader model 5, and supports pci express 3.0 (issues*?). The HD 5670 is faster than it.

---Conclusions---
I suggest you the GT240, because it has got GGDR5 memory and because it supports Nvidia 3D vision and Nvidia PhysX. If in future you will buy a new pc with a new GPU, you can "recycle" it using it as a dedicated PhysX card.
But, if you're sure that your motherboard supports ATI HD 5xxx series, then buy the HD 5670 with GDDR5 memory.
(you can consider also the Nvidia GTS 250, or maybe the GTS 450, which is really a good medium-range GPU).

*why issues with PCI Express 2.1 cards and PCI Express 1.0/1.1? Because (I think) PCI express 1.0/1.1 slots are unable to give enough power to cards which take power directly from PCI Express slots, without using external power connectors. The HD 5670 GDDR5 version hasn't got power connectors and it could not have enough power to work correctly. I'm not the one experiencing it.
So I suggest you to buy cards which take power with connectors and not directly from the PCI Express slot.

thanks for the detailed reply....
and my mobo has PCI express 2.0 slots...GA-G41M-COMBO: PCI-E 2.0?...
and gts 450 is way out of my league(too costly here)...

for futher info about my mobo take a look at this...GIGABYTE - Motherboard - Socket 775 - GA-G41M-Combo (rev. 1.3)...

so i am thinking hd 5670 or gt240..

and as my max screen res is 1366*768 i would assume hd 5670 to do the job...i hope i am right..?

and is a 450w psu enough to handle the above 2 cards...?

Windows10 Pro - 64Bit vs.10547

both cards are compared here:
SAPPHIRE RADEON HD 5670 vs INNO3D GEFORCE GT 240 BY ULTIMATE HARDWARE

the power requirement for the 5670 card is shown as being (at least) 400w, though
I'd be inclined to ugrade to 500w to ensure an adequate power supply for other components

you can input your power set-up here, to check what the overall load is:

yes, 450W PSU is enough. If your mobo has got pci express 2.0, Radeon HD 5xxx series will work

if you go for the HD 5670, remember to take the GDDR5 edition if you can... GDDR5 memory is faster than GDDR3 memory...

19A at +12V? That's a weak "450W" power supply.

However, your CPU is rated at 64W. If you add a graphics card that uses no 6 or 8 pin auxiliary PCI-E power connectors, that card would be limited to 75W max. That's only 140W, or less than 12A at +12V. You should have enough margin.
