Win7 Display adapter stuck at 600x800

Have changed to Win7 from XP. Now I cannot change screen reolution from 600x800, In Computer Panel>display I am offered res upto 1280x but clicking Apply gives a short blck screen then back to the original.

    OS: Win-7 Profesional 32 bit
    Monitor: HP2311f (using VGA connector)
    Display adapter: SiS 650_651_M650_m652_740

I suspect that I do not have a Win7 compatible driver as it all worked with XP,
and device Manager now reports I am using a generic VGA driver.

I tried "driver navigator" and it says the VGA driver is OK!
I have also done a Windows Update with no success.
I have not been able to find a SiS driver on their web site

    Hope someone can assist

Can't find a SIS driver specifically for your setup ? I know a man who can.

    SIS UniVga3 driver latest

This should help considerably. They also recommend looking to update your Bios if after installing the driver you still can't fully adjust.

    Brianzion.
    Regret no success

I tried the .zip file. After unzip and running the .exe it produced, I tried to install using the .inf file it generated only to get " no comptible driver found". Then I found the DVD for the screen. After following the install info I got "driver has been installed". Now the display properties offers various resolutios BUT, when I try to apply any, the screen blanks and reverts to 800x600. !!
I have yet to try the SiS site suggested. (The last post says it cannot be done)

Have tried SiS site. The only driver for my SiS-651 chip listed as yet only goes to Win-XP!. Not known if there is a newer version.
    Perhaps I need a new display driver plug-in card.=Money!
