Your Temps Seem to be ok you can try to reinstall your driver again but instead of Doing Express install u can do a Custom install and Only install the Graphics Driver and The Nvidia Update and Do another Clean install

I've tried doing a clean install, and it doesn't seem to have helped. Is it a good idea to downgrade the driver, because it only seemed to start doing the black screen after the update.

Ok, I've downgraded.

If this is successful, does that mean I can't upgrade my drivers for a while?
What advantages are there of an up to date driver?

It doesn't always pay to install the latest driver as it may not have been fully tested.

That's where us suckers come in. It's cheaper for the software company to let us 'test' their updates and report any bugs - far cheaper, in fact, than employing their own test engineers.

To be fair, if your hardware is working OK, is there any real need to have the 'latest' driver?

I have to agree with that, but I'm one of those people who needs to have something up to date I'll live with it though (just this once...). Have others on the forum had this problem, or am I the only one?

My hardware was working 100% ok until the update. I thought I may have needed it because the update was in relation to new(ish) games which are coming out, and I thought I may not have been able to play them without it.

I have on numerous occasions in the past updated to the latest NVIDIA driver then promptly had to roll back when things like Windows Media Center black screened.

Unless there's a problem I tend to leave well alone as far as newer drivers are concerned.

as for me i updated to the latest Nvidia Driver with no Issue's and has seavixen mentioned you dont NEED to update to the latest driver if there is no issue like my Realtek Ethernet Driver is Outdated by a Couple months but the Motto goes "Dont Fix Whats not Broke"

I looked on the Nvidia forums (It's very secluded, haha ) and no one seems to be tending to anyone's problems, but a few have had the black screen with other versions.

Is it possible I might need to update Nvidia and Asus drivers for it to work?

I'll probably stick with this version. I downgraded everything except the audio drivers. Not sure if that will make a difference though

I think I have some sort of OCD where I need things to be up to date. It's not like me to downgrade haha!

All seems to be going good with the downgraded version

Cheers guys.
