dual monitors, one generic in device manager

Hi all,
I have two monitors, both acers 20". I also have the driver disk.

One monitor is recognized, and the other is generic pnp. i have tried to update the driver on the generic through both web and disk interfaces. epic fail.

the main problem is one monitor's resolution is 1920x1080, and for the generic, that high of a resolution is unavailable.

why can't i get the second monitor to recognize drivers?

i have FIVE other systems operating normally with this getup. what is wrong with THIS ONE?

This worked for me:
Click Start, Devices and Printers, right click the display that shows up as generic. Click Properties, click the Hardware tab, click Properties, click Change settings. Click the Driver tab, click Update Driver. Click "browse my computer for driver software".

I'll also add, are both displays connected the same way (VGA or DVI)?

If you have a spare video cable swap it for the one on the monitor that isn't working correctly.
