Motherboard not recognising GPU

Until a couple of weeks ago I was quite happily running my Nvidia 9400 GT GPU with no issues. Windows update wanted to update as it does every now an then and afterwards I get a black screen?? I switched to my on-board graphics everything is fine - I try the 9400 and nothing........ it gets weirder....... couple of days later I turn the computer on again and the 9400 is working again..... does so for a few days then black screen again

I've been out today and bought a Nvidia GT 620 and plugged it into the motherboard but even that isn't showing up in device manager.
I'm glad I got the new card in any case although bit gutted I may not have needed it but can someone please help me sort this out its driving me insane!
Has windows update screwed my machine or am I missing something??
Before anyone tells me to plug the vga cable into the 620 and enter safe mode or bios..... I cant as the screen is black. The fan is turning on the card so it has power, my power supply is definitely man enough so please, please, please help me I cant handle my on-board graphics anymore :'(

Not the clearest post.

You can run the system using the onboard graphics? If so, I suggest the following:

Have the latest drivers on hand for both your onboard and the GT620.

Uninstall your graphics drivers.

Shut down. (Don't reboot.)

Install the GT620. Plug the monitor cable into it.

Power up. If you get the POST (power on startup) display, things are probably OK. If not, perhaps you have a hardware problem.

If you can get into Windows with the new card, install the new drivers. With any luck, Bob's your uncle.

USB 3.0 not recognising anything
I've just finished building a PC, and the mobo's CD installed some of Intel's USB 3.0 drivers. They seem to be up to date, as I have tried updating them via Gigabyte and Intel's website. However, whilst they provide power, they will not recognise any drives. My Device manager is shown below ...

Win7 not recognising new 3rd HDD
The BIOS sees it. System Info for Windows sees it, but shows no drive letter. Device Mangler lists all 3 drives, but is not much help because Properties shows no Volume or capacity for any of the HDDs. Can I assume this drive is an unformatted blank? How do I format it if Win is not seeing it? ...

Hi guys......I am having a serious problem with my Sony Vaio E series laptop. All of a sudden when I was skyping with my friend, it hung up. So I forced shutdown. Then it could not load windows 7 and asked for start repair. Tried to do that but after hours of repair it said 'Operating System not...

64 bit Windows only recognising 4GB of RAM.
Hi All I am guessing this is going to be a stupid question, so I do apologise in advance. I have installed a full version of Home Prem 64 bit, but it only seems to want to detect 4GB of RAM. I only have 5GB installed at the moment, so it is not a great deal, but it is still confusing me. ...

USB not recognising drives
When I connect a USB SATA drive to win7 pro 32bit it cant see it. Power is getting to the devices since the light comes on. Changed to another port to no avail. It and another drive work on a laptop nearby. An Epson printer is USB enabled as well. Changed the port and that's recognised. Can...
