Graphics card making weird noises Just to keep things straight, you're only supposed to hear the airflow from the graphics card, right? I just got a new one and it kind of sounds like the fan is grinding. I'm about to RMA it. I got an EVGA GeForce GTX 550 Ti. | My System Specs |

UR,
Likely it's fan is hitting it's shroud. You could try pulling it out and spinning the fan manually to see where it's hitting and see if you can push and make some clearance. Otherwise as it's a premium card then just RMA it. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number A blend of brains, brawn and dumb luck, ask me about rig #2 ! So I know for a fact it's the fan. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Custom Built OS MS Windows 7 Professional 64-bit SP1 CPU Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-2400 CPU @ 3.10GHz Motherboard Asus P8Z77-V LK Memory G.SKILL Ares 8GB (2x4GB) Graphics Card EVGA nVidia GeForce GTX 550 Ti Sound Card Realtek High Definition Audio Monitor(s) Displays 22 inch LG Flatron W2240T Screen Resolution 1920x1080 Keyboard Logitech K360 (Wireless) Mouse Logitech M215 (Wireless) PSU Raidmax RX-630SS Case NZXT Crafted Series Tempest 410 Elite Cooling Air Cooled Hard Drives Mushkin Chronos 120GB SSD (OS), 1TB Seagate HDD (Data) Internet Speed 1.14 MB/s (9.6 mbps) |

Well then it's an RMA candidate for sure, maybe they'll ship one out if you charge the price of another to a credit card and then ship the defective back in a few days. That way your still up most of the time. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number A blend of brains, brawn and dumb luck, ask me about rig #2 ! I have my old graphics card still. It just sucks because I've been waiting for a while. So now I have to wait for my box to ship it back, wait for them to process it, and then ship me a new one. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Custom Built OS MS Windows 7 Professional 64-bit SP1 CPU Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-2400 CPU @ 3.10GHz Motherboard Asus P8Z77-V LK Memory G.SKILL Ares 8GB (2x4GB) Graphics Card EVGA nVidia GeForce GTX 550 Ti Sound Card Realtek High Definition Audio Monitor(s) Displays 22 inch LG Flatron W2240T Screen Resolution 1920x1080 Keyboard Logitech K360 (Wireless) Mouse Logitech M215 (Wireless) PSU Raidmax RX-630SS Case NZXT Crafted Series Tempest 410 Elite Cooling Air Cooled Hard Drives Mushkin Chronos 120GB SSD (OS), 1TB Seagate HDD (Data) Internet Speed 1.14 MB/s (9.6 mbps) |

Yeah it seems I've been there and continue to be there. But it's fun to tinker and improve on an already great rig. I just dropped a 8 core in mine and have it humming at 4.7 Ghz......yikes! | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number A blend of brains, brawn and dumb luck, ask me about rig #2 !
