Windows doesn't load after installing ati drivers. Hi,
I'm having a problem with catalyst drivers. I installed Windows 7 32-bit yesterday and everything was working fine until I installed catalyst control center, which now causes the system to stay stuck on the blue windows wallpaper without explorer or mouse cursor. I can get to safe mode and perform a system recovery, then I can boot normally. I also tried multiple versions of drivers, but it always does the same thing. Im using Radeon HD5770, Gigabyte P43T-ES3G Mobo, Intel Core2Quad 2,5 GHz (not sure about the exact model number) and 4 GB Ram. Everything worked fine before reinstalling windows and my system specs are exactly the same as they were before. Any ideas? Thanks. | My System Specs |

It could be a dead or faulty graphics card. Is the card correctly installed and all the cables attached including any extra power cables? | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number CCL Online OEM OS Windows 7 Home Premium 32bit CPU Intel Core 2 2.4GHz Motherboard Foxconn 946GZ7MA Memory 4GB Graphics Card ATI Radeon 4850 Sound Card Realtek HD Audio Monitor(s) Displays Prolite E2407HDS Screen Resolution 1920x1080 Keyboard Microsoft Digital Media Mouse Optical Wheel Mouse Cooling Fan Hard Drives 2 x WDC 500 GB Internet Speed 14Mb/sec Other Info Internet ISP: Plusnet |

I checked the cables and they are all in place. I don't think it's the gpu, it worked perfectly fine before the reinstall, so it seems unlikely that it would stop working over that one hour that it took to install Windows...

This is probably not the case either, i tried all kinds of CCC and I also tried that program from AMD that detects the correct version and applies it. They all did the same thing. | My System Specs | | OS Windows 7 Home Premium 32bit |

Try downloading and installing Driver Sweeper, boot into safe mode, run Driver sweeper, check only the AMD display drivers, click analyze, then clean. Reboot, then install the proper drivers for your card and OS. Amd usually has 2 drivers for each card. One is for a single card and one is for crossfire. Be sure you select the right one for your operating system. Try that and see if you get better results. | My System Specs | | Computer type PC/Desktop System Manufacturer/Model Number Home Built- Always under construction OS Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 X64/ linux in VM CPU Intel i7-3770K Motherboard Asus Maximus V Extreme Z77 Memory 8GB G.Skill Ripjaws Z DDR3-2400 (2X4GB) Graphics Card EVGA GTX 670 SC 4GB Sound Card On Board Monitor(s) Displays Asus 24" LCD Screen Resolution 1920X1080 Keyboard Logitech G510 Mouse Logitech G500 PSU CORSAIR AX850 Case Cooler Master HAF X Cooling Custom Water Cooling Hard Drives Samsung 840 Pro 256 GB, Samsung 840 Pro 256 GB, Samsung 830 256GB, Samsung HD103SJ 1TB . Upon a reinstall of OS, if you select recommended....read the small print... it will download drivers automatically (what windows thinks you need or windows version of the driver). Just select the option to do it at a later date. Then once the OS install is complete then manually download all your drivers. I've had the same problem and this seems to work for me. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Custom built OS Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit CPU AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition Motherboard Gigabyte GA-MA790X-DS4 Memory GSkill 4 X 2 GB PC 8500 Graphics Card XFX Radeon HD 6790 D Sound Card On board RealTek HD Monitor(s) Displays Dual monitors:Samsung SyncMaster S20B300 Screen Resolution 1600 X 900 Keyboard Logitech G510 Mouse Razor DeathAdder PSU Ultra X4 750 watt fully modular Case Thermaltake Overseer RX 1 full tower Cooling Core-Contact 92 mm CPU Cooler Hard Drives Seagate Barracuda 1TB (primary)
