How to reset my monitor refresh rate?

Hi there, thanks for stopping to help!

I was playing around with some settings this morning and I changed my monitor's resolution to 1900 x 1200 and increased my refresh rate from 60hz to 100hz. The resolution change was smooth but upon changing the refresh rate, my monitor signal cut out, as it apparently doesn't support the setting. The issue is that it did not revert automatically, and I cannot seem to find a way to reset it to the default 60hz in safe mode or in the monitor's menu. My monitor is a Vizio LCD TV.

Would very much appreciate any suggestions!

Hello robotdinosaur, and welcome to Seven Forums.

You could boot into the Advanced Boot Options screen, select the Enable Low Resolution Video (640 X 480) option, then you'll be able to set you screen refresh rate back and restart the computer to go back to normal mode. :)

    Hope this helps,
    Shawn

thank you for the reply. I tried your suggestion and unfortunately, my monitor still does not have a signal, even in low resolution mode. The log in screen is displaying fine, and I can get as far as signing in, but once the desktop is loaded the signal is lost. Might you have any other recommendations?

You might see if you may be able to boot into Safe Mode instead to be able to set it back to the proper refresh rate.

If not, then you could try doing a system restore at boot using a restore point (if available) dated before you changed the refresh rate.
