Standard VGA is a placeholder driver not intended for permanent use if there is a newer driver. It's usually quickly replaced by Windows Updates or from the computer or device's Support Downloads webpage. But it seems you have a conflict with your card as diagnosed by Stormy that makes it a rare exception.

    Hey again

First of all, thanks for all the help and patience you guys have been giving me.

I've been looking at forums about the problem of not being able to get to the log in screen.

A lot of the forums had the same issue; a bad driver is installed or corrupted.

Since I've managed to finally install the video drivers, I guessed that, that couldn't be the problem.

There is this driver that I seem to keep failing to install, and keep getting this message: ITECIR there is a mistake when installing the Driver: 0x80070103.

    Any ideas on this one?

    EDIT

Still no go with the CIR ITE driver. But I just tried to boot up. Still freezes at the windows logo, but I can hear the loggin ind sound.
Somehow it is working just not the screen.

    2ND EDIT

well I logged out, and then could hear that hdd working. Just like when you've downloaded and installed updates, and it need to install it further when you reboot.
It did that, and now the screen is not working! The BIOS screen doesn't even show when I boot!

    Please help!

    3RD EDIT

scratch the last one. Rebooted and it worked again, though still with the freezes.

Why are you installing a driver for an infrared receiver? Do you have such a device?
If not uninstall the driver, in Safe Mode if necessary.

If you have a missing driver in Device Manager use Hardware Identification to accurately trace it to google for the driver, or ask here.

Have you considered a Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 to get a much better install than the corrupt Acer factory preinstall, without the OEM crapware and useless factory utilties that have better versions built into Win7? Most drivers are in the installer or quickly delivered by optional Windows Updates. Then we can help you find any missing drivers to avoid these problems.

    Het Gregrocker

I've already done a clean reinstallation without OEM/acers crapware.

I'll skip the IR driver :)

In safe mode, when I look at the device manager, nothing seems to be out of order at the moment.

    This is getting really weird.

Why was that driver being installed? Was it delivered by installer or optional Updates?

Were drivers given during Clean Reinstall by the installer or Updates changed out for others?

When the reinstallment of OS was new, there was an exclamation mark on the device.

As I wrote, a lot of forums said, that windows stalled on log in if one or more of the drivers was bad or corrupted. So naturally I tried to install it, to eliminate that possibility.

I don't need the device, just wanted to be sure.

    EDIT

Isn't there a program that can check every devices in the computer? or check for drivers?

What is the device name for the missing device? How and where did you find the driver?

Drivers not provided by the installer or optional Windows Updates (have you checked) can be found on the Support Downloads webpage for the computer or device model.

It was the ITECIR Infrared Reciever (EC), but somehow it is installed. Fully working!

    So that's off my list!

Is there anything I can do!?

I've updated my chipset, my BIOS, I bought a 30 day pass, so that a program can find devices that needs new drivers and it's saying that I'm all up-to-date! WTF!!!

Driver programs are not recommended for Win7, which is the authority on its own drivers via the installer and WIndows Updates.

You may have something else wrong with your system. Can you boot into Win7 at all? If not work through Troubleshooting Windows 7 Failure to Boot.

If you can boot Win7 then work through these Troubleshooting Steps for Windows 7.

Ok I went to the last resort and did a new clean install

It's fresh from the bottom, essentials installed, scanning.

    Next up is malwarebytes.

I will not install the video driver untill very last.

    Any recomendation until then?

    EDIT

Question: what happens, if I have a good graphics card but poor screen?

I noticed, that, in the device manager, my monitor is a Generic Non-PnP Monitor. I don't know if it's supposed to be like that.
If the screen is not up for the task, wouldn't my GFx card be useless wether or not it has the latest driver?
