So I upgraded my work PC to windows 7 after a wicked virus hit it while it was still runing XP (waiting for a reason to upgrade anyway). Before upgrading I ran the Windows 7 compatability software, and I knew I would have a few issues after the upgrade but nothing too serious, which is probably the answer to my question anyway, but my problem is my resolution. Well not really a problem but an inconvienance.
My resolution settings only allow 3 resolutions: 1280x1024, which is too small for my liking, 1024x768, which is bearable but slightly too big for my liking, and 800x600 which is way too big. While I had XP installed it was set to 1280x960 (or around there)
It seems like the driver
for my actual graphice adapter does not have a Windows 7 version. We have another computer in our office which is exactly the same brand and model as this one but still running XP (as of right now) and according to that machine's device manager these graphis cards are onboard "Intel(R) 82845G/GL/GE/PE/GV Graphics Controller". In the upgraded Windows 7 PC the adapter is listed as "Standard VGA Graphics Adapter" in the device manager. I have come up empty handed on my searches for a Windows 7 driver.
So long story short, is there any way to set a custom resolution somewhere between the 1024x768 and 1280x1024, OR does anybody have a good link to a driver I can use with that adapter that works with Windows 7? I have tried setting it to the higher resolution and then using the "Make text and other items larger" setting, but that gives the same appearance of the 1024x768 resolution.
On a side note, my computer specs saved under my username are for my home laptop. The computer in question here is a eMachines T2792, 2GB Ram 2.7Ghz Celeron processor, graphics adapter listed above.
