Everything with this setup is working fine except I can no longer completely get the 42in to display edge to edge. If I use the slider in the ATI ccc scaling options "which I normally use". The screen stretches mostly from top to bottom and does not fit horizontally. I am using the windows 7 beta driver from ATI.

Anyone get this type of setup working?

This is what Ive been able to find out.

I can get the 46" LCD to work full screen only if I set windows display properties to use one display .

ie) " show desktop 2 only "

If I set the display properties to "duplicate these displays" I cannot fill the large 46" screen edge to edge , even with catalyst control.

So based on all that I think its a windows issue.

Anyone else having this type of issue?

Is there a setting on your TV that you can adjust? something like, 16:9, 4:3, Just scan, zoom, etc, Have a play about with them, see if that helps.

The thing is that in Vista I didnt have this problem. Catalyst control was able to make the adjustment no problem. I think Windows 7 is force feeding the wrong display info. I could be wrong I'm not sure.

Have you tried to boot the computer using only the 46" screen connected?

I do it this way and I get native resolution. Also , if it doesn't fill it, but it switches resolution correctly, then it is definitely a tv setting, in mine (42" Bravia) I had to disable the auto-adjust and change some widescreen options until it was filled.

It works fine when I select the TV as the only display. Its when I select to duplicate the displays from windows properties that I have a resolution issue.

If I have it set to duplicate and I click identify, this should place a number 1 and 2 on separate screens it shows 1 and 2 side by side on each screen. I dont think thats right. This tells me that its not using 2 different resolutions its only using one. There fore my large screen is not filling edge to edge.

Forgive me if am wrong, but if you duplicate 2 different sized screens your going to get a border round the larger screen? no?

If the TV doesn't scale the resolution you're sending it then you'll have to rely on the ATI card to do it. Have you enabled adapter scaling in CCC using the beta W7 drivers stickied in the Video Cards forum here?

I'd suspect a bug with either the video driver or W7. Have you dumped the EDID for the TV to check it's timings? There are settings known as "front porch", "back porch" etc. that dictate the rasterization interval and thus the black borders. If you can force the monitor to use the settings that the TV needs I'll bet you can get rid of the borders. This tool will dump the TV EDID for you -- it's from the folks that make Powerstrip if you're familiar with that: http://www.entechtaiwan.com/files/moninfo.exe

Considering it worked perfectly with vista and vista drivers, I wouldn't considering tampering with the TV. I agree its the driver or Win 7.

Thanks for the replys

No tampering. Just finding out what the driver is getting from the TV in terms of it's capabilities. I think this is fixable -- we just need the information from that utility.

Well I ran that program on my PC monitor just to check it out and somehow I ended up with 3 monitors showing in windows display options. A new one called other showed up. So I ran it with my TV as default and it would only pickup the PC monitor.

Anyway I deleted the other monitor from device manager and now everything is working fine. Wierd!!

Thanks for all the replys

I think the secret is that you set the TV as default. It becomes the source of the display timings which are then applied to the monitor and not vice versa.
